Fun Party Recipes: Spooky Chocolate Covered Bananas!

October 9, 2017 by Arkaidy Leave a Comment

Oooohhhhh yeeeahhhh, check out these Spooky Chocolate Covered Bananas! Don’t you want to make them for a halloween party this year?

I mean really, forget all this pumpkin spice nonsense….

Halloween is almost here!

I don’t know about you, but every fall I feel like we have to agonizingly wait till October 1st before we can freely throw around spider webs and put up mounds of spooky decorations. Halloween is such a fun holiday. We are ready!

Over the next couple of weeks we will have a couple of really fun, easy, and kid friendly halloween treats you can make with your own little goblins, starting with these tasty treats right here!

You don’t need a whole lot of stuff to get these just right:

When choosing bananas, go for the ones that are ripe but not soft. Kind of right in the middle.

Pick a good semi-sweet baking chocolate and make sure to read the label to avoid anything with milk of course!

If you’re lucky, you might find some cool Halloween themed sprinkles at the grocery store, but if you can’t, plan ahead and try these fantastic and inexpensive all-natural sprinkles from Quality Sprinkles!

I also like to do chopped nuts and unsweetened flaked coconut to mix things up a bit.

A dab of coconut oil…

And lastly, you’ll need some popsicle or cake pop sticks, of course.

How cute are these little skull candies we found? Perfect for Halloween!

One word of caution, is that you do need to freeze your bananas for 1 hour before you can breeze through this recipe, so do keep that in mind as you plan on making these!

Once you get all your ingredients set up, have a look at our video to see exactly how to put these tasty little guys together:

If nothing else, that was the best minute of the day just to watch Max make his goofy face at the end, don’t you think?

If you have any questions about this recipe, or anything else for that matter, don’t be shy! Leave a comment and we will be happy to help you out!

Ingredients

  • 6 bananans
  • 8 oz semi-sweet baker's chocolate
  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil
  • Halloween themed sprinkles
  • unsweetened shredded coconut
  • chopped nuts
  • 12 popsicle or cake pop sticks

Instructions

  1. Peel bananas and cut in half. Skewer each half with a popsicle or cake pop stick and arrange on a parchment lined baking sheet. Freeze for 1 hour.

  2. Set up your sprinkles and other toppings so they are easily accessible.

  3. In a glass dish, add your coconut oil to your chocolate and melt in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in-between. I use a drinking glass for easy dipping.

  4. Dip each banana in the melted chocolate and return to your parchment lined baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with your topping of choice. Repeat with all 12 pieces of banana.

  5. Re-freeze your treats, then place in the fridge about 20 minutes before serving for the best texture!
